About R. Lance Belline
R. Lance Belline is the founder and partner of Lighthouse Financial in Rogers, Arkansas, an advisory firm that provides financial planning, finances, and tax planning services to individuals and businesses. A veteran in the financial services industry, he also authored the informational and educational book More Wealth, Less Taxes, released in 2022. The book provides strategies for keeping more of what you earn while building tax-efficient wealth for the future.
Lance founded boutique financial services firm Lighthouse Financial in 2009 to help higher-income and higher-net-worth individuals plan for and reach their financial goals. The tagline at the time was befitting: “Always on Watch.”
What also eventually distinguished the firm from the outset was how they combined tax strategies into their investment strategies in an effort to lower the amount of taxes clients pay during their retirement years.
He became a Certified Financial Planner in 2002. He passed several financial industry exams: the Series 65 Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, the Series 63 Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, the Securities Industry Essentials Examination (SIE), the Series 7 General Securities Representative Examination, the Series 6 Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, and the Series 26 Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Principal Examination.
Author of More Wealth, Less Taxes
R. Lance Belline is known for taking what many may see as complicated topics and communicating them in plain-spoken English with warmth and familiarity. He makes the complex understandable by using before-and-after real-life examples and clients’ stories. The book More Wealth, Less Taxes was born from Lance’s desire to see others around him thrive financially. He imparts his wisdom to help individuals gain confidence, grow wealth, give generously, and maximize efficiency. He also provides the financial pitfalls to avoid.
In the book, Lance discusses three categories (buckets) of wealth: pre-tax money, after-tax money, and tax-free income (Roth IRA, Roth 401(k)). The premise is to put money in all three buckets and then influence how the government taxes each in the future, including obtaining a zero tax rate, which Lance outlines in the book.
His book has received rave reviews, with one reader writing, “…this book hands down has helped me so much at such an early age to understand concepts and things that were so foreign to me and make them so relatable that I felt confident in my ability to make smarter decisions with my money.” Another reader praised Lance’s book for packing “a punch for anyone looking to take care of their financial future. The amount of life-changing content is at the next level.”
More Wealth, Less Taxes also provides several resources, including Tax Facts at a Glance, Retirement Investment Flow Charts, Benefits of Tax-Free Savings, an Asset Organizer, a Comparison of Estate Planning Options, an Expense Planning Worksheet, and Advisor Interview Questions.
Sharing His Knowledge As a Featured Guest on Various Podcasts
Lance has also been a guest on numerous podcasts, including Dad’s Making a Difference with Cam Hall, where the topic was “Raising Financially Free Children and Creating Generational Wealth.” He shares how he mastered managing his finances from childhood and the importance of talking about money with children to educate them on finance and help change the trajectory of their lives.
Other podcasts Lance participated in include Let’s Go Win with host JM Ryerson, Capital Gains Tax Solutions, the Financial Freedom Podcast with Dr. Christopher Loo, where Lance was invited to discuss the topic “Taxes Are Your Single Biggest Expense,” and 2 Bulls in a China Shop.
Lance Walks the Talk to Give Back
Generous giving is one of the critical takeaways Lance conveys to his clients and readers of his book. He has given generously over the years, including to the Student Mobilization (STUMO), a non-denominational Christian college campus ministry in Arkansas that focuses on helping students grow in their character, leadership, and faith.
R. Lance Belline also contributed to Campus Crusade, Adventures for Missions, VIA, and New Beginnings. He served on the board of Cobble Stone Project, a nonprofit that uses agriculture to help the under-resourced in Northwest Arkansas by focusing on five strategic pillars: hunger relief, education, economic development, community, and sustainability.
He currently serves on the board of the American Diabetes Association – Northwest Arkansas.
Saving at an Early Age
Lance was born in Joplin, Missouri, into a great family. He was taught the importance of hard work and was able to save from a very young age, which helped shape him and his relationship with money. Lance was able to look at money for a longer-term, bigger purpose rather than being used for immediate gratification.
He attended the University of Arkansas and entered the financial planning world after he graduated.
When Lance is not helping others navigate financial waters, he can be found skiing, swinging on the golf course, and spending time with his beautiful wife, Jessica, and their three children. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, and pickleball.
